Galerie Privée 2026

Since the 1950s, Lacoste has attracted artists from Scandinavia and, later, from all over the world, not least because of the intense light of Provence. An artists’ colony developed, which drew further creative talents to the area. In 1971, the American artist Bernard Pfriem founded an art school, which was taken over by the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) in 2002.

The artists of Lacoste came together in 2009 to form the ART LACOSTE collective. Every year at Easter, they organise a group exhibition in the ‘Temple’ – the former Protestant church – as well as in the vicarage and the town hall. ART LACOSTE is proud to carry on and showcase a long artistic heritage. A sculpture park is one of Lacoste’s most recent cultural achievements.

This long artistic tradition and the open-mindedness of Lacoste’s artists inspired the Bob and Kathrin Gysin Foundation to organize an exhibition featuring Curt Asker (1930–2015), Inge Boesken Kanold (b. 1939), and Lotti Ringström (b. 1942). The exhibition was created in close collaboration with the two female artists.

The small Galerie Privée, which has been in existence for nine years, thus offers an opportunity to showcase art from Lacoste outside the usual setting. Following last year’s exhibition by Peter Somm (1940–2023), this is the foundation’s second exhibition dedicated to locally produced art.
